The Sports Information Department is seeking qualified and creative Student Assistants for 2021. The Sports Information Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Sports Information Department with game operations and multimedia projects for GoBoxers.com and the Pacific University Athletics Department. The student assistant will assist the Athletics Department staff with game day operations including the operation of scoreboard equipment, conducting interviews with student-athletes, coaches and staff members. These interviews might be conducted in advance, during and after events. Other responsibilities ay also include planning and executing interviews with coaches and student-athletes. Desired candidate should be familiar with necessary equipment and/or attend mandatory training sessions as required by the Sports Information Office and the NCAA.
Responsibilities:
• Assisting with game day operations in set up, operation and tear down of athletic events.
• Conducting high quality interviews and highlights on behalf of the Pacific University Athletic Department.
• Develop and produce interviews that can be used by broadcast partners (KUIK), website (www.goboxers.com)) and social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube).
• All materials produced with this position with Boxers Athletics are the property of Pacific University but will be credited to the student assistant.
• Always be sensitive in dealings with other personnel, visitors, and students, so that all are treated in a respectful, professional, and humane manner.
• Maintain professional level of conduct and interaction with other staff so that staff dissension is minimized.
• Maintain control and composure during difficult and stressful situations to instill a calming effect on others.
• Physical requirements (e.g. lifting and carrying equipment and materials, required overnight travel, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS:
• Familiar with audio/visual equipment including cameras, mixers, tripods and microphones.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve desired goals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to produce high quality work under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with social media.
