Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Seeking innovative professionals from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds to fill the position of Operations Staff/Olympia Driver to join the open and welcoming Facilities team.

The Operations Staff/Olympia Driver is responsible for driving the ice resurfacer and maintaining a quality ice surface through scheduled resurfaces and other assigned ice maintenance at the Murray Athletic Center. The Olympia Driver (Ops) may be assigned other responsibilities in the Murray Athletic Center.

This is a part-time, year-round position with approximately 20-25 hours per week.

The Operations Staff/Olympia Driver is responsible for driving the ice resurfacer and maintaining a quality ice surface through scheduled resurfaces and other assigned ice maintenance at the Murray Athletic Center. The Olympia Driver (Ops) may be assigned other responsibilities in the Murray Athletic Center.

This is a part-time, year-round position with approximately 20-25 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Maintain facility schedule by following posted resurfacing times;
• Responsible for maintaining a quality ice surface throughout scheduled shift;
• Communicate with supervisor and other staff members any concerns and/or needs of the building and its equipment;
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with staff and supervisors;
• Evening shifts: ensure all players/spectators have left the building, check all locker rooms, offices, and bathrooms, check all doors and turn lights off before leaving the facility. Work as a team member to ensure the facility is ready for the next day's operation.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Must be 18 years of age of older;
• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Valid driver's license;
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
• Ability to work nights and weekends;
• Ability to work in cold indoor environments, and outdoor environments as required;
• Ability to lift 75 lbs;
• Ability to follow safety guidelines and exercise good judgment in all aspects of responsibility;
• Experience operating ice resurfacing equipment;
• Experience sharpening skates.

WORK ENVIRONMENT : The essential functions of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time.
