Can I tutor if I have another job on campus?
Yes. The University Athletic Association is a separate entity from UF. UF employees may also work as UAA tutors, provided they complete all required UAA Human Resources paperwork and new-tutor orientation. Tutors may not simultaneously tutor for both the Content and Learning Services programs within the Hawkins Center.
How will I be notified if I am considered for a tutoring position?
Applicants whose qualifications align with current Learning Services needs will be contacted by email and invited to interview with a member of the Learning Services staff.
Hiring typically takes place in the weeks leading up to the start of a new semester (i.e., late July/early August for Fall, late November/early December for Spring, and April for Summer)
If you do not hear from us, it means that your academic background or areas of expertise are not needed for the current semester. Your application will remain on file for future consideration, so there is no need to submit another application unless your qualifications or availability change.
What happens if I am hired as a Strategy Tutor?
Once a Strategy Tutor position is offered and accepted, the candidate will work with Learning Services staff to complete the UAA Human Resources onboarding process. Before beginning tutoring, new tutors must complete required online training and attend New Hire and Compliance Orientation meetings. Additional Learning Services training and professional development opportunities may also be required throughout the year.
We will carefully review application materials and match applicants with our current areas of need. Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview. Please note that applications are accepted and reviewed year-round. If hired, you will be required to complete the federal Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9. You will also be required to present acceptable and original documents to prove your identity and authorization to work in the United States. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
