Part-Time Assistant Coach, Track & Field

Description

Assist the Head Track/Cross Country Coach in providing coaching expertise and administrative functions for the intercollegiate track & field and cross country program.

Examples of Duties

• Assistant in developing a successful track & field and cross country program.

• Assist in all areas as they relate to the operation of the track & field and cross country program.

  2. Recruiting and scouting
  3. Practice planning and organizing
  4. Coaching various events (jumps, sprints/hurdles and distance, throws)

• Administrative duties assigned by the head coach including but not limited to assisting in team travel, monitoring the academic performance of student-athletes and home meet management.

• Ability to relate and motivate student-athletes.

• Administrative duties assigned by the head coach including but not limited to assisting in team travel, monitoring the academic performance of student-athletes and home meet management.

• Ability to relate and motivate student-athletes.

• Transport student-athletes in vans to practice and/or meets.

• Represent Loyola in a positive manner at any events on and/or off campus.

• Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities: Assume the duties of the university Campus Security Authority (CSA), including but not limited to, reporting crimes as defined through the Cleary Act and providing annual reporting statistics.

Typical Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor degree.
• Successful high school and/or college coaching experience and intercollegiate experience preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a current valid driver’s license as a condition of employment, and must also be able to successfully pass any driver background information investigation and any driver education courses required by Risk Management.
• Ability to work effectively with college student-athletes, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community.
• A philosophy of intercollegiate athletics which places the highest emphasis on the pre-eminence of the academic mission of the institution and the role of athletics as a part of the student’s total educational experience for both the student-athlete and the student non-athlete.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to lift, move and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to perform the essential job duties with or without a reasonable accommodation.
