Position Summary
Minot State University is seeking a motivated and energetic Part-Time Cheer Coach to lead and oversee the university cheer program. The coach will be responsible for organizing practices, coordinating performances at athletic contests and special events, and supporting the overall development, safety, and well-being of student-athletes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills while promoting sportsmanship, school spirit, and a positive team culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Organize and conduct cheer practices, training sessions, and team meetings.
• Coordinate and supervise cheer performances at home athletic events, campus activities, and special university events.
• Develop practice schedules, routines, and game-day performance plans.
• Promote a positive student-athlete experience focused on teamwork, leadership, and personal growth.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes during practices, travel, performances, and related activities.
• Monitor compliance with university, conference, and applicable safety guidelines and policies.
• Assist with fundraising activities and community engagement efforts to support the cheer program.
• Maintain effective communication with student-athletes, athletic department staff, and university administration.
• Support recruitment and retention efforts for prospective student-athletes.
• Oversee equipment, uniforms, and program inventory as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or designated administrator.
Qualifications
• Previous coaching, cheerleading, or related leadership experience preferred.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required for games and events.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
• Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete development, safety, and academic success.
Working Conditions
• Part-time position with flexible hours based on team schedules and university events.
• Frequent evening and weekend responsibilities.
• Physical activity associated with coaching and event participation is required.
Additional Information
This is a part-time, non-benefited position limited to 19 hours per week. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks and adherence to institutional policies.
