About Central College:
Central College of Pella, Iowa, is a private, four-year college known for its academic rigor, engaged citizenship and character formation, experiential learning, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), athletics and service. Job Description:
Responsible to the Athletics Communications Director to promote Central varsity athletics teams through digital and print platforms as well as through the media with content focused on marketing and recruitment of new student athletes.
Essential job responsibilities include:
- Help provide content to the college's athletics website.
- Utilize multiple social media platforms and implement college's athletics social media strategies.
- Write and edit sports releases, hometown news and event stories.
- Serve as primary sports information contact for several sports.
- Provide home event athletics communications management, including supervision of student work crews.
- Operate publishing and statistical software.
- Assist with maintaining statistical records and season reports.
- Submit required post-event statistical files to the NCAA and American Rivers Conference.
- Assist with award nominations and promotion.
- Edit photos for use on various digital platforms, organize photo archives.
- Assist athletics videographer with video production for live streaming and social media as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in communications or related field; emphasis on athletics video production a plus
- Experience with various social media platforms.
- Advanced computer skills in word processing and working knowledge of Adobe programs (including InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere) and required NCAA statistical software programs.
- Must possess strong communication skills and demonstrated skills in photography and video editing and graphics.
- Ability to regularly work evenings and weekends.
- Limited travel.
Additional Information:
9 month stipend position with on campus housing and meals provided.
