Oglethorpe University, Atlanta’s leading private, Liberal Arts University is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic professional to serve as a Part-Time Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach. The assistant coach is accountable for assisting the head coach in all phases of management of a competitive men’s soccer program which competes in the Southern Athletic Association. Primary duties include on-field coaching, assisting with game day operations, assisting with a junior varsity program, and maintaining positive public relations for the athletic department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Part-Time Assistant Coaches’ responsibilities include but are not limited to knowing and abiding by all University, NCAA, and Southern Athletic Association rules and regulations; coaching; assisting with practice and game plans; recruiting; monitoring scholar-athlete academic progress; and scheduling. The successful candidate must be highly motivated and have experience coaching in a competitive soccer program. The successful candidate must also provide positive leadership in all aspects of the soccer program and must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with all internal and external patrons. The Head Coach and/or the Director of Athletics will determine other job duties and responsibilities.
A Bachelor’s degree and previous coaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred. A valid driver's license is required.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Successful candidate should also be knowledgeable of and committed to the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Title IX, and the SAA. Position will require ability to demonstrate appropriate technical skills during practice; ability to plan, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while working on multiple tasks; ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Some travel required.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
This position requires work in a normal office environment as well as on a soccer field; typically running, bending, crouching and stooping.; use of tools requiring high dexterity is required as well as occasional lifting of up to 50lbs; use of office equipment, training equipment and alternative work schedule is also required.
