Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The primary purpose of the Department of Athletics is to provide a program of intercollegiate athletics for students at the university. The Department of Athletics accepts the challenge of creating an environment whereby student-athletes are both progressing academically in a degree program leading towards graduation and competing athletically against the highest level of competition. Each student-athlete is viewed as an individual whose general health, fitness, and emotional development are of significant value. The Department of Athletics takes pride in its compatibility with the mission of the university and recognizes the opportunity to give Fayetteville State University recognition on the state, regional, and national levels.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The primary purpose of the position is to assist with the overall supervision, organization, and management of the Sports Information Office and public relations functions of the department, including the development, coordination, and implementation of effective communication strategies and initiatives that create recognition of the achievements, programs, teams, and participants. Essential functions also include the maintenance and updating of team and individual statistics, oversight of game-day statistics, streaming broadcast, and game-day staff.
Assist in the daily operation of the Sports Information Department.
Serve as one of the main contacts for sports as assigned.
Maintain, update, and provide content for the

Athletics website and social media sites; develop relationships with the university webmaster and work in keeping sites in line with university policy and style; develop and promote all

Athletics highlight and promotional videos on the website and social media outlets.
Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluation of communication student interns and work-study student interns.
Prepare and disseminate information on each student-athlete in each sport and send it to all appropriate media outlets.
Promote and work for national recognition of deserving athletes and teams.
Responsible for all media needs at athletic events.
Assign coverage for news events with articles and photos.
Oversee reporting of statistics to the conference and national levels by deadlines.
Create and develop social media graphics and programs.
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
