As a proud member of the Northeast-10 Conference and NCAA Division II, the Athletics Department at Franklin Pierce University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month position as the Ravens Spirit Head Coach. In this role, you will be Leading and directing our Raven Spirit Squad in supporting University Athletics and its 24 intercollegiate sports.

 Job Summary:

 Skills and Qualifications:

The skills and qualifications that you possess will include:

• A minimum of two years’ working in a campus or athletic environment, and general knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
• Bachelor’s degree is required in communications, public relations, sports administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft software – Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
• Good written and oral communication abilities required, along with the ability to maintain confidentially and commitment to integrity.

Essential Functions of the Position: 

• Direct and lead both cheer and dance, Ravens Spirit 
• Design and lead performances for various events.
• Establish performance requirements and enforce academic requirements for all members.
• Provide for performances at extracurricular events, including football games, pep rallies, parades, and other community service engagements.
• Actively fundraise for the spirit squads throughout the fiscal year.
• Organizes, prepares, and conducts individual and team practices, training and competition.
• Recruits student-athletes in accordance with University Admissions rules and regulations
• Directs all aspects, areas and components of the Ravens Spirit.
• Represents Athletics program to various institutional programs and externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the general public.
• Manages all daily operations and coordinates all administration facets of the Ravens Spirit program.
• Oversees all aspects of the financial operation of the Ravens Spirit program.
• Responsible for the planning and administering of all aspects of a successful cheer and dance program.
• Practice and game preparation, scheduling, compliance, recruitment of academically and musically qualified members.
• Monitoring of student-athletes’ academic, athletic, and musical development.
• Adhere to all institution policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned

EXPECTATIONS:

• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations relating to the University.
• Responsible to monitor the physical, emotional and social welfare of their student-athletes and to ensure the establishment of a safe environment while at the University.
• Ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality and judgment in dealing with sensitive issues.
• Good organizational, oral and written communication skills are needed.
• Anticipate problems, critical issues, and opportunities as they arise and advises the Athletic Director accordingly.
• Must have the ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. 
• Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. 
• Ability to effectively use a personal computer, NCAA Compliance software, NCAA Internet programs, Microsoft Excel and Access, word processing, and other associated software.
• Demonstrate a solid knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing student-athletes.
• Adhere to all NCAA, conference and institution policies and procedures.
• Carry out all responsibilities and objectives in a professional manner.
• Maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other customers.
• Accept and render constructive criticism in a professional manner.
• Adhere to the policies and procedures established by Franklin Pierce University.
