The Office of the Registrar at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Registrar Specialist II for the Certifications and Eligibility team within the Office of the Registrar and will work primarily in the space of Athletic Certification. The successful candidate must possess the ability to interpret the academic catalog and university, college, and departmental policies as they pertain to the athletic certification process. Proficiency with the Big XII and National Collegiate Athletic Association policies and bylaws, specifically Bylaw 14 will be paramount. As the primary contact for the certification processes, the Registrar Specialist II will interpret daily reports, prepare preliminary transfer athlete evaluations and documentation, evaluate student records and schedules, and collaborate for annual NCAA reporting on behalf of the university. The successful candidate will demonstrate a keen attention to detail, an enthusiasm for researching issues, and a willingness to collaborate across multiple functional teams.
This position includes responsibilities and priorities that fluctuate with both the academic calendar and the athletic schedules of the university and will facilitate the implementation and adaptation of university system enhancements and Athletic Compliance software.
The Registrar Specialist II will provide support for the Degree Completion team and will assist with the university commencement ceremony planning and execution at the conclusion of spring and fall terms.
Additional information: Office hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday-Friday, with flexible hours between 7:30 am – 5:30 pm. The Office of the Registrar supports University WorkFlex opportunities following a position-appropriate training period. Evening and weekend hours required for the University Commencement Ceremony each fall and spring semester.
Example of Duties
Research, interpret, clarify, and apply varied policies, regulations, procedures, and guidelines, and analyze data and apply judgement.
Provide exceptional customer service to students, families, and individuals from across campus.
Develop, maintain, and/or follow documentation related to policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Prioritize multiple deadline-based responsibilities.
Preparing athletic reports, updating certification records, and proofreading documents for accuracy.
