This is a senior-level position responsible for serving as a lead in the area of housing assignments. Responsible for the process of assigning and billing residential students throughout the year, including room change charge adjustments, private room billing, damage billing, and various other Residence Life-related transactions. Greets and answers questions from department visitors, accepts walk-in applications, writes receipts, and distributes printed information about residence halls and departmental policy. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Associate Director of Residence Life (Housing Administration).
Oversees departmental correspondence and maintenance of the main departmental email account.
Serves as lead in the area of housing assignments.
Maintains and coordinates special group housing assignments, including Athletics, School of Honors,
ROTC
and International Programs.
Implements, performs, and initiates the process of student housing assignments. Performs processes for student billing and charges related to the department.
Creates and promotes departmental marketing tools and publications, including newsletters, brochures, flyers, and email communication.
Processes information required for a variety of periodic reports and operates various office and computer equipment.
Provides customer service by phone, email, and in person, greeting customers that come to department for various needs.
Processes and maintains housing cancellations, refunds, forfeits, and break contract fees.
Audits charges that have previously been made to student accounts and interdepartmental transfers (IDTs).
Processes private room requests and billing adjustments for student accounts.
Processes billing and assignments for students requesting early arrival.
Processes break housing requests for each facility break, including Thanksgiving, Winter Break, Spring Break, and holidays.
Processes paperwork for cases of abandoned property.
Organizes and supervises special events within the department.
Maintains and retains appropriate files in the office, storage, and disposal.
Serves on university committees, as necessary.
Maintains student files in relation to housing and residence life.
Answers a variety of office calls and correspondence on a daily basis.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university and departmental regulations, procedures and policies.
Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
Skill in completing assignments accurately with attention to detail.
Skill in using standard office equipment and software.
Organizational skills in managing projects simultaneously while maintaining a satisfactory work product.
Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with general supervision.
Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
Ability to work effectively and patiently with students and the general public.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Three years of related experience is required. Experience using computer and data-based programs is required.
Some college coursework in business, information systems, computer science, or communications is preferred. Experience meeting and assisting students and the general public is preferred.
This is a security-sensitive position subject to criminal record check.
This is an IT-sensitive position subject to the Computer and Network Security policy.
Salary Grade - 17

This position is eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (
TRS
) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
