The Resident Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing athletic health care to members of Springfield College’s intercollegiate athletic population. Resident's will provide athletic health care coverage for the duration of the intercollegiate pre-, regular and post-seasons, for their assigned teams. Resident's may also be responsible for the clinical supervision and instruction of athletic training students engaging in clinical experiences.
Residency Program:
The 2-year Athletic Training Residency at Springfield College is a developmental step for certified athletic trainers to work and learn in a supported, mentored setting while focusing on the learning in the specialty area of Prevention and Wellness. Residents will hone their patient-care skills and expand their knowledge within the areas of prevention and wellness while providing full-time athletic healthcare service. The domain of prevention and wellness is vital as athletic healthcare providers seek to promote primary healthcare services and to prevent the development of health conditions and diseases. The residency program will serve as a crucial link to supporting the mission of the Springfield College Wellness Institute and athletic healthcare services by providing competent professional athletic training staffing. The program is seeking initial accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.
