This position provides direct support in the operation of Lynah Rink. The Rink Operations Attendant is responsible for maintaining a safe, hazard free ice surface to ensure an excellent experience for Lynah Rink users. To accomplish this mission, responsibilities include ice resurfacing, skate sharpening, general rink maintenance, custodial duties, counter coverage for skate rentals and public skating, set-up for men's and women's intercollegiate ice hockey games, and rink supervision during physical education classes and other group activities.

This role also needs to have a general awareness of operational needs of a Rink facility and be able to respond to facility needs in an efficient and effective manner. Successful operation of Lynah Rink requires an individual with an excellent work ethic, the ability to work independently, and superb customer service skills. A successful candidate must be reliable, flexible, and take pride in their work.

The schedule for this position is Tuesday through Saturday, typical hours being from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, depending on the rink schedule. The position calls for being in a standing position for extended periods of time. Also due to the maintenance nature, this position is subject to shift changes and extended working hours (including nights, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) to meet seasonal work demands. This position may occasionally assist with other maintenance needs for the department of Athletics &Physical Education.

No relocation assistance is provided for this position. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

While position responsibilities vary, every member of our community is expected to foster a culture of belonging and a psychologically healthy work environment by communicating across differences; being cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming; showing respect, compassion, and empathy; engaging and supporting others regardless of background or perspective; speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and supporting work/life integration of oneself and others.
