Apply NowJob Summary/Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Taffy Abel Arena Coordinator, the Sales Associate is a part-time employee in the Superior Sports Pro Shop in the Taffy Abel Arena of Lake Superior State University. The successful candidate is a knowledgeable about ice hockey equipment, is a capable salesperson, and helps ensure a positive customer experience in the Pro Shop.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General
Pro Shop Operations:
a. Support the Abel Coordinator with student staff supervision.
b. Support product ordering and inventorying as needed.
c. Balance cash daily, ensure departmental bank deposits are picked delivered to Business Operations.
Customer Service:
a. Provide services to customers: general sales, equipment repair, skate sharpening, and other hockey/skating related services.
b. Assist with scheduling and collecting payment for ice rentals in Taffy Abel Arena as needed.
c. Actively engage community members to promote the Pro Shop and ice rental.
d. Address customer complaints thoroughly and professionally.
Management:
a. Maintain competitive pricing with local vendors for comparable services.
b. Assist in monitoring and managing the Pro Shop operation.
c. Develop on-campus and community promotional materials.
d. Maintain necessary and appropriate inventory.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Physical Demands:
Ability to hear a normal conversational voice and telephone conversation, with or without a hearing device; ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances; ability to read and to understand written and spoken language; ability to see with or without vision aid. Use of fine motor skills and dexterity to type and input computer information and use other business machines. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time (2 hours) while serving customers and working to repair/maintain equipment. Adequate motor and mental abilities to diagnose equipment failures and offer suggestions for repair. Adequate motor and mental abilities to repair hockey equipment (including skates) and perform skate sharpening.
