) invites applications for a Seasonal Assistant Athletic Trainer. This position works under the direct supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer to ensure the health and welfare of the student-athletes competing in the University’s
NCAA
Division I athletic program. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for preventing, evaluating, managing, and rehabilitating injuries and illnesses within the University’s comprehensive sports medicine program. Specific team assignments will be made to identify areas of primary coverage and travel responsibilities, but the individual will be expected to work with student-athletes from all sports and provide coverage to all programs when necessary. The individual is expected to work autonomously with their assigned primary sport within the context of the overall sports medicine program.
Primary Responsibilities
• Assist with initiative for the prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses.
• Provide emergency care as indicated.
• Evaluation of athletic injuries and illnesses.
• Treatment of athletic injuries and illnesses.
• Rehabilitations of athletic injuries.
• Provide education to the student-athletes and coaches
• Athletic training administrative duties including securing insurance referrals, authorizations, and scheduling of appointments.
• Assist with the coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions.
• Complete appropriate medical documentation.
• Work closely with team physicians and other allied healthcare professionals to deliver appropriate care to the student-athletes.
• Team travel is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in the appropriate area of specialization.
Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (
BOC
).
New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners Athletic Training License or eligible.
CPR
for the Professional Rescuer Certification.
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
