Job Summary

The Senior Academic Advisor will report to the Associate Athletic Director of Academic Support Services. This position will provide academic support and guidance to student-athletes assigned by the Associate Athletic Director of Academic Support. This position will also coordinate the academic operations of the ACHIEVE Center.

• Assist in the overall direction of the John and Jinnie Chapel ACHIEVE Center operations.
• Manage the distribution of study hall hours to ACHIEVE Center staff and coaches.
• Manage Tutor Program.
• Manage Graduate Student employees.
• Provide direct oversight of registration, which includes collection of practice blocks, missed class forms and FROSH schedule adjustment.
• Provide direct oversight of Grade Report distribution.
• Provide GPA information to Sport Info and Coaches for academic recognition and award nomination.
• Assess academic needs of student-athletes and coordinating and/or carrying out appropriate support and intervention strategies.
• Advise and monitor academic progress of student-athletes through meetings, contact with faculty, and progress report information.
• Work collaboratively with college advisors to ensure that student-athletes are making academic progress toward their degree.
• Work effectively with coaches and sport administrators to promote an educational atmosphere that promotes academic achievement.
• Organize Co-op meeting for first year and transfer student-athlete and serve as the Co-op liaison with Steinbright Career Development Center (SCDC).
• Collaborate with Compliance office on NCAA Academic Eligibility certification and APR submission.
• Meet with Recruits to discuss services and University Programs.
• Serve on Department search committees or other administrative committees as assigned by the department senior management.
• Assist the Associate Athletic Director for Academic and Support Services on various projects as assigned.
• Co-Coordinate Special Events/Projects such as CAA/Drexel Academic Award Ceremony, Best of Blue & Gold, First Year Student-Athlete Onboarding event, etc.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in athletics or advisement experience in a university or college setting, including internship work.
• Ability to travel domestically as needed.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and selected weekends.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and with a diverse population of student-athletes in a team atmosphere.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as they pertain to initial and continuing eligibility.
• Creative approach in assessing, developing, and delivering academic support services.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 to $ 71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
