Position Information
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.
Report directly to the Head Football Coach. Advise the Head Football Coach on all matters related to the football program with a focus on offense. Mentor the Offensive Coaching staff including all coaches, graduate assistant coaches and quality control personnel. Evaluate all offensive prospective student athletes and assist the Head Football Coach and the Executive Director of Recruiting in all matter relative to offensive player evaluation including scholarship offers.Provide detailed advance scouting analysis of all upcoming opponents defensive schemes and personnel to the Head Football Coach and the Offensive Coaching Staff. Evaluate all current student athletes and advise them on their potential for professional football opportunities. Follow all UNC, NCAA and ACC rules, guidelines and standards. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities; specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.
5 years of college coaching or scouting experience. Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
Work experience that is directly related to area of employment. Must have extensive knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Must be able to communicate effectively.
Ability to lift/move 25 lbs or greater. May be required to navigate stairs. Must be able to manage a fast-paced, high volume work environment. Attention to detail essential. Must be able to work long hours, including nights and weekends as necessary. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions. Travel required.
