Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics, the incumbent will play a key role in developing the intermediate and long-term development efforts of the Hampton University Division of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Job Duties:

• This position will primarily focus on major gift identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for facility projects, endowments, and annual donors.
• This position will personally manage a principal/major gift donors/prospects portfolio of at least 75. The incumbent will also arrange for the solicitation and stewardship of gifts by the athletic director, coaches, and other staff, if needed.
• The incumbent will oversee all aspects of the development program, including the Annual Fund, suites/club/courtside seats, facility campaigns, and endowments.
• This position requires evening and weekend work during HU athletic and other special events as well as some regional and national travel

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• The most qualified candidates will also possess: demonstrated ability to independently plan, organize, and complete a variety of tasks in a high-paced environment; excellent interpersonal, relationship building, and oral, written, and electronic communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of donors, volunteers and staff.
• Understanding of the operation of a major research university and passion for promoting its intercollegiate athletic programs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, the Internet and database management software (e.g. Paciolan, Advance, Donor Advantage, etc.) required.
• Understanding of Fundraising Move Management and the ability to succeed goals.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of professional development experience or in a related field is required, preferably in an educational environment.
• Master’s Degree in Sports Management or MBA, a minimum of two (2) years of major gift fundraising experience or closely related sales experience, preferably in an educational environment or university with a strong affinity for intercollegiate athletics and an understanding of NCAA rules are preferred.
