The athletic department is a vital part of the university experience, and we are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations.
The Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations oversees marketing, communications, sponsorships, ticket sales, fan engagement, and brand development to drive revenue and increase institutional visibility for the athletic department. This senior-level position involves developing and executing strategic plans for revenue generation and brand promotion, leading a team, cultivating partnerships with donors and sponsors, and serving as a key member of the athletics leadership team.
Specific Responsibilities
• Revenue Generation: Lead strategies to grow ticket sales, secure corporate sponsorships, and manage licensing agreements.
• Marketing & Fan Engagement: Develop and implement marketing campaigns, game-day promotions, and innovative fan experiences to increase attendance and community engagement.
• Brand Management & Communications: Oversee strategic communications, manage the department's digital and social media presence, enhance brand awareness, and tell compelling stories of success.
• Partnerships & Development: Cultivate and strengthen relationships with donors, alumni, and corporate sponsors to drive philanthropic support and revenue.
• Leadership & Strategy: Provide strategic vision and leadership to the external relations team, develop annual plans, and ensure successful execution of initiatives.
• Operational Oversight: Supervise key external operations, including ticket offices, marketing departments, and media relations.
• Strategic Planning Ability to develop and execute long-term external relations and revenue generation plans.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of five to ten years of progressively responsible experience in collegiate athletic operations.
• Strong understanding of NCAA rules and compliance standards.

• Master’s degree in sports management, business administration, or related field preferred.
