Job Description :
USC Athletics is looking to hire a Senior Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications & Brand Advancement to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals. This role is responsible for managing the overall content strategy, brand development, creative ideation and strategic communications efforts for all 21 varsity programs. This individual will advise the senior leadership team, including the Director of Athletics, on all communication and branding initiatives.
The Senior Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications & Brand Advancement will have oversight of all creative, digital and communication units in the department with direct management of the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Brands & Communications, Chief Creative Officer and Director of Football Communications.
Reporting directly to the Deputy Athletic Director for External Relations/Chief of Staff, the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications & Brand Advancement will work in collaboration with all constituents on the External Relations teams, including but not limited to the Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Development Officer, as well as with the department’s multimedia rights partner.
The Senior Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications and Brand Advancement will provide overall department strategy on strategic communications, content, digital platforms, creative video and design initiatives with the goal of elevating the University of Southern California Athletics brand and enhancing our ability for revenue generation through increased ticket sales, fan engagement and storytelling through the above channels. The individual will be tasked with overseeing overall strategies for the department’s social media and digital channels to enhance brand awareness by implementing processes to capture analytics to create and make data-driven strategies and decisions. Additionally, the position will be the lead liaison with conference television networks on all storytelling and content initiatives.
The ideal candidate will possess management/supervisory experience, strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively. This individual should demonstrate a poised and professional manner, ability to work well with diverse types of individuals, ability to communicate clearly, diplomatically, and effectively, as well as be an analytical and critical thinker.
Knowledge of and experience working in higher education preferred. Understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletes preferred.

Roles and responsibilities :
Provide overall department strategy on strategic communications, content, digital platforms, creative video and design initiatives with the goal of elevating the University of Southern California Athletics brand and augmenting the department’s ability for revenue generation through increased ticket sales, fan engagement and storytelling. Lead liaison with conference television networks on all storytelling and content initiatives,
Provide oversight and leadership of all communications, creative, digital units in the department with direct management of the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Brands & Communications, Chief Creative Officer and Director of Football Communications. Advise the senior leadership team, including the Director of Athletics, on all communication and branding initiatives.
Develop digital/creative strategy for individual sports with department coaches and directors of operations on individualized team strategies, as well as all priorities related to the department’s 21 programs and 600 student-athletes.
Implement strategies to capture analytics to create and make data-driven strategies and decisions to enhance sales and revenue generation opportunities.
Collaborate with the Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Development Officer, as well as with the department’s multimedia rights partner.
Provide outstanding customer service, as well as ensure the editorial team provides the highest level of customer service.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree and seven years of experience (ten years preferred). Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
Experience at a NCAA Division 1 athletic program and/or a professional sports organization or related field, in digital strategy, marketing, revenue generation, communications or a related field preferred.
Salary Range:
The annual base salary range for this position is $200,000-225,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
