The Senior Associate Athletic Director-Student Well-Being is responsible for oversight of the Sports Medicine and Strength & Conditioning units. The position will also serve as the sports administrator for assigned programs. The Senior Associate Athletic Director-Student Well-Being reports to the Athletic Director.

- Supervises and manages sports programs and respective coaching staff as assigned by Athletic Director.
- Collaborative management and leadership of a broad range of responsibilities including support of staff and work-study staff supervision and ensuring the scheduling and quality service levels are being met or exceeded.
- Schedule and hold team meetings, review and improve workflow, and create work schedules.
- Assure efficient and effective Athletic Training performance.
- Ensure athletic training services are provided in a timely, accurate, effective, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with established policies, procedures and practices.
- Provide staff education and onboarding. Maintain confidentiality. Ensure OSHA safety, FERPA and HIPAA requirements are followed.
- Provide oversight of annual equipment certification/calibrations.
- Ensure appropriateness of supply Purchase Order and review expenses are in line with updates by UIW finance.
- Educate staff on best practices.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and present resolutions.
- Stay abreast of and serve as a resource on current and proposed standards of practice and State guidelines of Athletic Training services.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships throughout the University while upholding UIW policy.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of Sports Medicine including human resources, compliance, quality improvement, and customer service.
- Update departmental policies, practices and procedures as appropriate based on current/updated state, federal, and regulatory body practice standards .
- Assume responsibility for hiring, termination, and disciplinary actions for all providers and ancillary personnel under direct supervision.
- Act as the primary liaison and point of contact between Network entities (Physicians, Physical Therapy, Chiropractor), other healthcare professionals (i.e. UIW Health Services), and athletes as it relates to the athletic program.
- Manage and coordinate interdisciplinary service lines within Sports Medicine.
- Monitor patient satisfaction data and make process adjustments as needed.
- Advocate for student-athletes by processing any grievances generated by patients, their guardians, or families.
- Manage EHR contract.
- Coordinate and work with finance, student injury insurance plan, and broker to review student premiums.

- Serve as the UIW Health Services Medical Director.
- Coordinate athletic training services to various athletes according to NCAA Division I standards to include but not limited to: physical exams, evaluation and treatment of injuries, supervision of rehabilitation, and coordination of counseling.
- Oversee management of sports medicine policies, procedures, athletic training rooms, equipment, supplies, inventory, staff and athletic training students.
- Oversee referral of student-athletes to appropriate health care providers.
- Oversee the athletic department insurance for student-athletes and coordination of insurance and deductible payments to medical providers.
- Oversee communication from the Sports Medicine Department with all university departments and outside associations.
- Oversee and maintain electronic health record and paper medical records.
- Coordinate with the NCAA/conference on all medical issues related to the institution and all NCAA/institutional substance abuse testing.
- Oversee and maintain the sports medicine budget.
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent NCAA health and safety legislation and with inter-association consensus statements that impact student-athlete health and safety.
- Ensure administrative structure for Sports Medicine allows for the delivery of independent medical care.
- Maintain an institutional line of medical authority with the sole interest of student-athlete health and safety.

Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or Sports Medicine field.

- Five (5) years of professional experience in the field of sports medicine in a complex environment.
- Two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience in the field of sports medicine.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience establishing EMR and billing procedures.
- Five (5) years of Athletic Training experience in a university role.
- Professional experience at a NCAA Division 1 institution.
- Master’s Degree.

Business hours of Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm with flexibility; extended hours as required, including weekends, evenings and some holidays based on schedule of assigned teams.

- Ability to lift up to 45lbs of materials and assist lift injured athletes.
- Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat to retrieve materials and injured athletes.
- Dexterity to attend to and effectively treat injured athletes.
- Ability to actively engage in pregame, during game, and post-game activities for extended periods of time.
- Ability to regularly move about campus and sport venues, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
