To provide primary athletic health care to the men and women student-athletes of Dartmouth College, in conjunction with team physicians, and health care providers at the College Health Service. Additionally, Senior Athletic Trainers will assume one or more “critical” administrative responsibilities within the department, as well as provide mentoring for new staff members.
Masters or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Master’s Degree in Athletic Training, or related field.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a college or university athletic training setting.
Skilled at the systematic evaluation of athletic injuries.
Knowledge and skill in the use and application of various electrical modalities, including ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, iontophoresis, intermittent compression devices.
Knowledge and skill in the application of various taping & wrapping techniques.
Skilled at developing rehabilitation programs for a range of common athletic injuries.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues, coaches, athletes and administrators.
Experience in working with a wide range of both men’s and women’s athletic teams.
Demonstrated ability, and willingness to work independently, and adapt to changing schedules.
Experience in supervising / mentoring Athletic Trainers.
Experienced at effectively treating both traumatic and overuse type injuries.
Certification by the
NATABOC

Eligible for State of New Hampshire License.
Current certification in
CPR
and First Aid.
Additional, related certifications, such as
FMS
, Active Release Techniques, Muscle Energy, Graston Technique,
CSCS
are highly valued and encouraged.

Provides comprehensive athletic training care to various student athletes using an evidence-based approach. Responsible for the daily evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of sport related injuries, as well as preventative and preparticipation preparation. Travels with assigned teams to away contests.

| Description |
Screens pre-season health histories in order to identify potential problems and refers qualifying conditions or injuries to the appropriate medical care provider for follow-up. Works collaboratively with other athletic trainers, physicians, physical therapists and others to provide high quality healthcare tailored to the needs of each student athlete including; development and implementation for rehabilitation programs, making appropriate and timely referrals and return to play decisions.
Serves as a liaison between athletes, coaches, head athletic trainer, and team physicians. Communicates injury status, rehabilitation progress, and appropriate activity levels of injured athletes to appropriate individuals. | | Percentage Of Time | 30% |
| Description |
Provides supervision and direct oversight for 2-3 staff athletic trainers. (Specific staff to be assigned on an annual basis). Responsibilities will include regular check-in meeting, as well as conducting an annual performance evaluation. Mentor Athletic Trainers to ensure that they are introduced to our Sports Medicine policies & procedures, and to help develop an understanding of how the Sports Medicine Department interacts with various departments on campus. Oversee the day-to-day operations in each of our Sports Medicine Facilities. Ensure that policies & procedures are followed, and cleanliness is maintained.

| Description |
Assume one or more critical administrative responsibilities within the department. Participate as a member of the Sports medicine leadership team. Formulate and implement policies and procedures. Serve on Athletic Department or Health Service committees as is necessary.
