The Senior Business Manager will oversee and manage Athletic Department finances, business operations, travel, equipment, human resources, and special events (outside of gameday). The budget portfolio includes operating budgets, grants, and fund raised dollars of approximately $10-15 million annually. Reporting to the Deputy Athletic Director for Internal Operations, the incumbent oversees the athletic department operations, business office full time personnel, athletics equipment and athletic facility personnel, graduate assistant(s), volunteers.
The Senior Business Manager is responsible for all fiscal activities of Chicago State University’s NCAA Division I Athletic Department, including budget planning, formulation, management, forecasting, and resource allocation. This position serves as a fiscal officer for the Department of Athletics and is charged with working independently as well as collaboratively with campus Human Resources, Business and Finance units. This individual is responsible for providing regular financial reports to the Deputy Athletic Director for Internal Operations & the Vice President/Director of Athletics.
This position is also responsible for the development and oversight of fiscal policies and procedures to ensure all fiscal activities are conducted in compliance with federal, state, institutional, and NCAA laws and regulations.
The Senior Business Manager ensures fiscal integrity, including compensation, scholarship, and operating budgets. Create and maintain policies and procedures related to financial management and business operations. Promote an atmosphere of customer service to internal and external constituents, overseeing team services (travel, officials, and equipment).
In addition to the above duties, the Senior Business Manager will maintain managerial authority over additional operational units, third party vendors and game contracts, purchasing and inventory, and travel management operations.
