The Senior Event Technician is responsible for the setup, operation and load out of event related audio/visual equipment throughout the Towson University Campus including but not limited to Towson University’s Sports Complex. They are primary Event & Conference Services contact with student organizations and academic/administrative departments during events at the University Union concerning Technical Operations. This position will also serve as a point of contact for University Athletics for the technical operations division of Events and Conference Services. These events include but are not limited to audio/visual support for small – medium sized concerts, meetings, conferences, and other special events. As a front-line employee, this position directly interacts with Event & Conference Services clients, thus is one of the key staff members responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service. This position’s performance is critical to the success of events coordinated through the Event & Conference Services Department. The mission of the Event & Conference Services Department is to provide scheduling, planning, coordination, execution, and management for all special events on the Towson University campus.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Senior Event Technician must be capable of handling technical requirements for small to medium sized events without other senior technical involvement. They must have the capability to understand technical requirements detailed on Work Orders and demonstrate a strong ability to work with the Event & Conference Services Event Manager and clients as required. Other interactions include Towson University students, faculty/staff and non-university clients. This position must also demonstrate a strong commitment to providing exceptional guest service and meeting customer needs. This position is responsible for the proper setup, operation, and breakdown of audio/visual equipment. Using independent judgment, assists in determining the best equipment to do the job. The Senior Event Technician must be skilled in the operation of a wide range of audio/visual equipment including house and portable lighting systems, various types of presentation equipment, laptop computers, screens and various types and levels of sound equipment. Assist in the administrative processes of inputting technical work orders, estimates of expense, and coordination of student payroll. Deliver event related audio/visual equipment to various locations on campus using authorized university vehicles including all-terrain vehicle, pickup truck and commercial delivery vehicles. Safely secure equipment when moving such in above vehicles. Review information on completed paperwork for accuracy & completion prior to actual events and billing. During events, this position supervises student technical employees. Responsibilities include training in proper set up, operation and load out of technical equipment. Assure all safety measures are in place involving personnel and equipment. Provide feedback to the Technical Operations Manager concerning performance of student employees. Assign responsibilities to student employees during events to best fit their abilities. Assist in the equipment control function, conducting routine tours of the university buildings and grounds noting and returning Technical Operations Department equipment to proper storerooms. As part of routine duties, straighten and organize storerooms and routinely inspect condition of audio/visual equipment, reporting equipment in need of repair to proper personnel. Make minor repairs to equipment as necessary. Suggest new or replacement equipment assisting in the efficiency of the department. Responsible for daily inventory updates and assures return of event equipment to proper storage location after use. This position establishes and maintains positive relations with university faculty, staff, students and non-university clients regarding services provided by the Event & Conference Services. Carry out the general duties associated with the position in order to maintain efficient and effective realization of departmental goals and assist with the successful execution of events. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Salary and Benefits
$49,582 annually and full University benefits that include annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
