With over 650 student-athletes participating in UW's 22 sports programs, the department of Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to providing student-athletes with the ability to compete for national and conference championships while working toward a degree from one of the world's leading public research universities. This position reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Brand Advancement and is responsible for managing the overall creative campaigns as well as directly engaging in the design and final production of marketing materials including brand design, promotional/campaign deliverables and information graphics. Responsibilities – Under the general direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Brand Advancement and working with the design team, the Senior Graphic Designer will execute design, layout, and final art production of visual communications projects, including but not limited to: branding and identities for 22 sports, toolkits, event collateral, photography, illustrations, presentation materials, and athletic facility signage. Creatively and efficiently develop publications and collateral designed to support fan engagement and revenue opportunities. Provide visual design and production consultation across the Athletic Department as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Brand Advancement. Provide creative input into the creative process for the video department to maintain a consistent campaign look and feel. Maintain the style and standards guide on behalf of the Athletic Department. Design and produce marketing materials, including brand design, promotional/campaign deliverables and information graphics, that meet the Athletic Department’s brand objectives. Advise, develop, and provide original graphic design work, from conceptual to layout to camera-ready art to final product; as required specify typography, paper stock, ink color, research and select photographs, facilitate other items and techniques for use in the development of the marketing material. Supervise and manage a Graphic Designer/Illustrator. Provide direction in prioritizing tasks according to potential for revenue growth and brand exposure. Ensure projects remain on track through completion and hit all deadlines. Provide support and assistance with efficiency in project completion. Work with department administration to identify additional resources needed to meet project goal requirements. Proactive and consistent coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to Marketing, Communications, and Sponsorship teams. Other duties as assigned. Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, illustration, or a related field. A minimum of 2-3 years of graphic design, visual design, or relevant experience. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator) or higher on a Mac OS platform. Detail-oriented with superior organizational skills to coordinate several major printing projects simultaneously. Able to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends) when necessary to meet multiple deadlines. Experience executing ideas across diverse mediums. Proven ability to deliver creative solutions within a branded system. Strong abilities in all aspects of the creative process from concept to completion. Capable of shifting between working independently and within a team structure. Strong ability to collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization. Desired Qualifications: Additional experience in motion graphics, video production, web design, illustration and / or photography. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Knowledge of sports.
