This position is responsible for assisting the head coach in coaching the softball program while fostering and encouraging the goals of the student-athletes. Assume duties for hitting and support defensive instruction, for game preparation and player improvements as well as other duties assigned by the head coach. Aid in on and off campus scouting and recruitment of student-athletes, to include evaluating their performance and provide leadership and instruction in areas of deficiencies. This also includes participation in organization of summer camps, scouting opponents, event management, coordinating team travel, compliance with
NCAA

GSC
and institutional rules and a commitment to academic development of student-athletes.

Instructs student athletes about skills and executing needed to perform the sport of softball effectively and competitively.
Apply Christian standards and attitudes in relationships among cohorts, faculty, staff and students.
Schedule travel accommodations for team and staff, for away competitions.
Recruit team members by understanding the productivity of a balanced team, knowing how to recognize athletic ability, and attracting good players to this university.
Attend all games and practices scheduled.
Instruct all team members about rules, strategies, and techniques of softball and prepare them for competition.
Contribute to a positive work climate and the team effort within the school, as well as demonstrate a positive sportsmanship in everyday situations.
Adjust coaching techniques, based on the strengths and weaknesses of athletes.
Support the head coach in ensuring that all matters related to the team’s student-athletes adhere to
NCAA
rules and regulations as defined in the
NCAA
Division II Manual.
Make sure that all student-athletes understand
NCAA
and
GSC
rules and compliance standards.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in related field.
Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated coaching and recruiting experience.
