Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, the Special Assistant to the Head Basketball Coach will serve as a member of the Department of Athletics and be responsible for contributing to all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate athletics experience for student-athletes. Must be available nights and weekend hours.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

The Special Assistant to the Head Basketball Coach at Fort Lewis College, a NCAA Division II institution in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, is responsible for assisting the Head Basketball Coach in all aspects of an athletically competitive men's basketball program, including, but not limited to:

  • Assist in organizing and conducting all skill instruction, practice, scheduling of games, competition and training schedules;
  • Effectively manage relationships with student-athletes, coaches and the broader campus community;
  • Assist in fundraising for the Men’s Basketball program.
  • Assist in MBB budget operations.
  • Assist in recruitment and evaluation of prospective student-athletes;
  • Provide appropriate leadership in practice and competitive environments;
  • Help ensure a quality student-athlete experience through community engagement, campus involvement and competitive achievement;
