Wheeling University, an NCAA Division II Catholic University, and member of the Mountain East Conference invites applications for a full-time Special Teams Coordinator & Assistant Coach, Football. Responsible for fulfilling all position-specific requirements to assist in the creation of a viable NCAA D-II men’s football program. Must be able to travel out of town for extended time periods and have the ability to work extended hours, such as evenings and weekends. Requirements include a valid, current driver’s license; NCAA Compliance Certification; and First Aid, CPR, and AED certification. Proficient in using recruiting software program Front Rush. Successful candidates must be committed to the academic and athletic success of the student-athlete and be able to support and promote the University's Mission.
Supports the Football Head Coach. Assists with the management of a competitive NCAA Division II football program. This includes assisting with conditioning, practices, recruiting, travel arrangements and overall day to day management of the University’s football program. Other duties as assigned.

Job Duties
Trains and prepares student athletes. Develops and prepares student athletes for college competition, including but not limited to speed, strength and conditioning and play development. Identifies, evaluates and attracts talented athletes to compete on the college level athletically and academically, including assisting the recruiting coordinator with maintenance detailed and accurate recruiting / player files and records. . Ensures athletes are making satisfactory academic progress; works with the Faculty Academic Representative, the Academic Coordinator and Registrar to monitor athlete’s grades; establishes and coordinates study halls; provides mentors and tutors as needed; and ensures all student athletes are academically eligible per NCAA and conference requirements and entered correctly into the NCAA Compliance Program; and maintains regular office consultation hours. Other duties as assigned.

Job Duties
Responsible for special teams. Will plan, organize and conduct all practices for each special teams unit including daily on field coaching and management at all practice sessions and games. Organizes game preparation, including fill breakdown; developing game plans and scouting reports related to the special team units for each contest. Develops an annual special teams playbook and teaching progression. Supervises and evaluates all special teams coaching including delegating to other assistant coaches, position specific coaching. Schedules and manages film sessions and meetings for all special teams units. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Level Required
Bachelor’s Degree
*Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum Experience Level Required
Three years experience coaching experience at high school, collegiate or professional level. Experience as a head coach and player is preferred.
Physical Demands Required
Required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear and use hands to handle and feel objects; lift and / or move up to 50lbs; reach with hands and arms, climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally lift and / or move up to 100lbs; have vision abilities that include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and moderate noise level that can be loud depending on the circumstances.
Compliance Responsibilities Required
Required to ensure NCAA, conference and University policies and mandated requirements are correctly interpreted and met and documentation is maintained per policies and procedures; maintain qualifications and certification(s) and complete required annual training.
