The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a full-time Spirit Team (Cheer & Dance) Head Coach with the Department of Athletics.
Responsibilities include:
Directing all phases of the Spirit Team program, including coaching at practices and games, recruiting qualified student-athletes, and monitoring student-athlete’s academic progress toward graduation goal, and providing academic support and assistance when needed.
Secondary duties are assisting with game management at home athletics contests. This is a 10-month full-time position (August 1-May 31).

Organize and direct a sideline and competitive cheerleading program
Facilitate positive behavior by student-athletes by providing guidance, serving as a role model, and supporting life skills programming.
Operate within the team budget and work to supplement the budget as necessary through fundraising
Follow institutional business procedures.
Schedule athletic competitions with other intercollegiate teams, primarily within the region.
Comply with applicable NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.
Follow all institutional compliance procedures.
Oversee practices and competitions.
Instruct student-athletes on the rules, fundamentals, skills, and technical aspects of the sport and develop practices and video sessions to enhance those skills and knowledge.
Inform student-athletes of the health and safety aspects of their sport.
Develop plans for competition, instruct team on strategies, and direct team during competition to enhance opportunity for competitive success.
Promote and market the sports program.
Assist with booster club membership campaigns and relations.
Make public speaking appearances and be accessible to the media.
Monitor and assist with the maintenance of practice, competition, and locker room facilities.
Order and maintain appropriate equipment, uniforms, and supplies for the team.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Cheer Dance participation and/or coaching experience, preferably at the college level.
