The Grounds section of Facilities Operations at
UNCG
is a service organization comprised of skilled professionals dedicated to providing the highest quality in grounds planning, installation, landscape maintenance, and improvements. The primary functions of Grounds are to enhance the livability, aesthetics, and safety of the campus environment. Grounds management is provided to 266 acres including intramural and intercollegiate athletic sports complexes, sports fields, landscape maintenance, integrated turf pest management, and the tree management program.

To provide high-quality Division 1 service and maintenance to the sports fields of
UNC
Greensboro. The position will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and game day preparation of sports fields, including clay management, turf management, field marking, and general landscape maintenance on the Athletics facilities on the campus of
UNC
Greensboro. Primary duties and responsibilities consist of the following:
45% – Sports field management
25% – Landscape maintenance
15% – Equipment Management and Safety Management
10% – Communications / Customer Service
5% – Records Management
High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of progressive experience in horticultural work; or associate’s degree in agriculture and natural resources, greenhouse and grounds
maintenance, horticulture technology, landscape gardening or closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Working knowledge of the maintenance of sports fields; the seeding, sodding, and maintenance practices for sports field turf grass; the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs, and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners, herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system, including wells, pumps, and automatic controls.
High level of understanding of the
NCAA
requirements for field layouts and markings
Pesticide license preferred
