Job Description
Summary/objective
Serve as the Sports Information Director for all intercollegiate programs equitably and meet all institutional, ODAC, and NCAA obligations.
Essential functions

Expand the opportunities for publicizing the College’s intercollegiate athletics programs by serving as a liaison between the College and external sources, including media outlets, alumni, fans, and sponsors; and internal sources, including student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff, and administration.
Write and publish news releases for all intercollegiate athletics programs, including specific hometown updates for student-athletes, and assists in editorial content and design of recruiting pieces, game programs, and/or special event publications.
Compile and distribute official statistics for all athletics teams, which includes reporting results to the ODAC, NCAA, and media outlets.
Oversee and maintain the College’s official Athletics website and social media platforms for timely and accurate content and style guide regulation.
Promote athletics contests and special events.
Manage home game day official scoring and/or game event personnel, including broadcast production and streaming.
Monitor annual operating budget, including student employment.
Select, train, supervise, and evaluate assistant(s), graduate assistant(s), volunteers, independent contractor(s), and/or student assistants for game day event hosting.
Organize and maintain photography, video, and marketing needs by utilizing the College’s staff photographer and other means for use by the Athletics Department and/or the College.
Provide materials and information for College publications as requested by College Relations, President, Institutional Advancement, Admission, Institutional Effectiveness, Dean of Students, Provost and/or Alumnae/Alumni Relations offices to report and/or promote the intercollegiate athletics programs to various internal and external constituencies.
Additional Duties
Provide general counsel, guidance, and inspiration to students regarding their overall success, particularly including utilizing new student orientation activities, career services, academic success programs, living successfully in residence halls and behaving within the College's student conduct expectations. Promote good sportsmanship.
Assist, as needed, in developing positive alumni relations and fundraising efforts to support a competitive Division III athletics program.
Perform additional departmental administrative duties as needed.
Demonstrate community involvement with active leadership as a positive role model including participation in a team-based community service project and encouragement of student-athlete participation in mentoring or other service programs.

Ability to positively influence public relations between the Athletics Department, the campus, and the community.
Serves as a member of the Department of Athletics. Reports to the Director of Athletics. Must work effectively on a regular basis with members of the faculty and staff members in Athletics, Admission, Student Affairs, Alumnae/Alumni Relations, Institutional Advancement, and other College offices.
Physical demands
Working environment includes both indoors and outdoors, exposure to various weather conditions, including temperature extremes. Indoor work environment may not be air conditioned during hot weather. Must have the physical ability to walk, lift up to 50 pounds, run, bend, twist, climb, see, hear, and communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
Travel required
Some travel to/from athletics events, NCAA and/or ODAC meetings, and/or professional development workshops required.
Required education and experience
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and a commitment to the values, standards, and expectations of NCAA Division III athletics and a liberal arts college.
Additional eligibility requirements
Must have valid Virginia driver’s license and insurance coverage (if driving own vehicle) or be insurable.
