Coordinate media relations for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Write, edit and distribute media releases to various outlets.
Serve as the primary point of contact with coaching staffs, student-athletes, contacts at NAIA and CALPAC office, communication with other Universities, athletic department personnel.
Establish relationships with on-campus and local media.
Arrange and coordinate all media interviews for student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
Provide media relations training for student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
Prepare media notes and postseason summaries.
Oversee and update the department’s athletic website on a daily basis with competition previews, recaps and unique feature stories, team schedules, results, statistics, department information and bios.
Serve as the statistician for assigned sports.
Coordinate game day statistical operations and statistical reporting to numerous outlets.
Report statistics as required to the California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
Submit conference player of the week, all-conference. and all-America nominations.
Update and maintain all archived statistical materials on sports and individuals.
Assist with the department’s Hall of Fame nomination and selection process.
Assist with the coordination and management of Social Media Operations - Produce timely content; manage social media campaigns, run social media accounts including but not limited to; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other emerging social media platforms while designing content for distribution.
Provide social media training for student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
Facilitate team media days and coordinate all athletics team/event photography.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics & Recreation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of Athletic Information, including the ability to sufficiently demonstrate skills in written and oral communications, sports statistics, media relations and events planning.
Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.
Competencies/Skills:
CPR, First aid certified.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create and support a work community that allows a diverse group of students, faculty and staff to grow and develop individually and collectively as part of a collegiate athletic program.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment as needed.
Ability to organize and manage complex college record keeping function; prepare, maintain, and interpret statistical data with competency.
Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
High Proficiency in personal computer systems utilizing databases, word processing, graphics, and spreadsheets.
Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to discern the urgency of appropriate decision-making processes.

Knowledge with software sufficient to support media publications and relevant athletic events statistics calculations, including Adobe in design, Adobe photo shop, Presto stats and sidearm.
Soka University of America offers excellent benefits. Salary range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000 and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
