The Senior Associate Athletic Director reports to the Director of Athletics and functions in the execution of his/her duties independently and autonomously. He/she has primary accountability for decision-making in all areas of responsibility related to his/her area. The position is administrative in nature and carries a very high level of responsibility for overall management of the Intercollegiate Athletics program.
The Senior Associate AD is a member of the Director of Athletics Senior Leadership Team. This group is comprised of the individuals who are responsible for all department strategic initiatives
and planning, including but not limited to: student-athlete well-being and performance excellence; student programming; facilities, operations; department policies & procedures; fiscal management; and external relations. This group advises the Director of Athletics on all aspects of the department. Individuals in this group serve as program administrator for one or more Varsity teams, a responsibility that includes, but is not limited to: oversight of overall programs, supervision and evaluation of head coaches, monitoring budget and

compliance, and working with the head coach to create and manage an environment conducive to both academic and competitive excellence.

rules and regulations of all staff, coaches, student-athlete, athletics, and University community.
The Senior Associate Athletic Director is responsible for fostering a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness throughout all levels of the organization, including but not limited to, staffing and programming.
Interactions are extensive, both within and outside the department, including Board of Visitors, Senior University Administration, and institutional representatives from visiting institutions, outside group representatives, parents, alumni, fans, and general public.
This position deals with highly sensitive and confidential information. The position performs complex functions, establishes priorities, resolves issues, and operates with significant autonomy.
This position is subject to additional hours beyond the typical work week to include evenings and weekends as required to meet the operational needs of the business.

Faculty or Staff: 12 month
• Bachelor’s degree in sports management, communications, marketing, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience (seven or more years).
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate and advance strategic plans and programs that support the Athletic Department mission and contribute to the overall goals and objectives of the external relations programs.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with alumni, donors and community members.
• Ability to generate strategic and creative solutions in order to advance the department’s efforts to maintain and strengthen high-quality relationships with all audiences.
• Skill and ability with managing multi-phase projects from inception to completion, including the ability to build consensus among team members and balance multiple concurrent priorities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to use both problem solving and sound judgment in situations requiring independent initiative and tact.
• Experience with brand management, creative campaigns, multimedia technology and
communication plans.
• Exceptional ability to work in a networked way, emphasizing collaboration in a complex environment.
• Understanding of
NCAA
rules and regulations.
• Ability to integrate complicated bodies of knowledge and demonstrates strong analytical acumen.
• Master’s degree in sports management, communications, marketing, higher education, or a directly related field.
• Experience working in higher education or a comparably complex organization.
• Experience at the Division 1 level.
• Experience with budget development.
• Progressive responsibility in supervisory, managerial, or leadership role.
Hybrid (works remotely at least 1 day per week but not full-time)
