Overview:

As a key member of the athletics department, the staff assistant for athletics communications and event management will work closely with the 15 varsity sports currently sponsored by the university to increase the visibility of Viking athletics and further its integration on campus and in the community. This position will serve as the assistant to the sports information director and will work directly with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), coaches, administrators, and student groups on campus to form a strategic marketing plan for the implementation and awareness of special events, contests, and promotions surrounding athletics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in athletics administration, marketing, communications or related field
  • Experience in a related field including marketing, event planning and management, sports information, or athletics operations
  • Experience in multi-media communications, including in print, web-based, and through social media platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in college or high school athletics administration
