Under the leadership of the Director of Strength and Conditioning,
the Strength and Conditioning Coach
is responsible to support all aspects of the development and implementation of a successful year-round sport-specific strength and conditioning for 16 Division I sports programs. This position will focus on enhancing performance, injury prevention, and injury recovery programs. This includes but is not limited to instruction of proper techniques, physical performance evaluating and testing, managing, scheduling, maintenance, and upkeep of the weight room facility, and adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, Northeast Conference and the
NCAA
.
Assist with the management, design and implementation of training programs for teams and individual student-athletes throughout the school year.
Consult with coaches, sports medicine staff and student-athletes for strength and conditioning needs
Effectively communicate with a diverse population of student-athletes, coaches and staff
Teach the proper technique for all lifts and movement training including but not limited to plyometric exercises, Olympic lifts, speed development exercises and flexibility.
Collaborate with Sports Medicine to develop and implement injury prevention programs and accommodate injured student athletes to facilitate return to play. Knowledge of injuries sustained in the sport and proper prevention methods, directing appropriate pre-training session and pre-contest preparations and warmups.
Assist with the monitoring and supervision and upkeep of the weight room to ensure safe and operable conditions.
Assist with the design and implement testing methods to assess strength and fitness levels of student-athletes (pre and post season).
Assist in developing summer and off-season programs for designated sports. Keep accurate records and supervision.
Support the education of student athletes regarding proper nutrition, sleep, recovery, and other healthy living practices.
Participation on national and institutional committees as assigned.
Participate in professional development as appropriate.
Communicate problems, issues and program improvement ideas involving the strength and conditioning area to the Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning.
Meet with head coaches of designated sports to assess needs and plan programs.
Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Health, Physical Education, or related field.
Two years of coaching at the collegiate level.
Strong background in teaching or coaching Olympic/Ground-based movements.
Must be First Aid/
CPR
/
AED
certified within the first 30 days of employment.
Must possess one of the following certifications:
NSCA
(National Strength and Conditioning Association Certification)-
CSCS
(Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist)
SCCC
(Strength and Coach Certified)
DBC
Level 1(Professional and Collegiate Biomechanics-Strength, Fitness, and Conditioning)
Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Health, Physical Education, or related field
Three or more years coaching experience in a Division 1 Program.
Strong background in teaching or coaching Olympic/Ground-based movements.

Self-directed, innovative and a strong problem solver in setting priorities and meeting goals.
Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to
NCAA
rules and regulations.
Ability to adhere to and ensure compliance with
NCAA
and conference rules and regulations, and ability to lead and nurture a diverse student and administrative population.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and initiate and implement projects independently efficiently and effectively.
Ability to multitask, work effectively, and meet deadlines
Ability and willingness to continuously learn to improve coaching strategy and ability.
This position may require nights and weekends. It will involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 75 pounds; It requires both an indoor and outdoor working environment. Physical demands include, but are not limited to, standing, bending, lifting throughout the day and workout demonstrations with student-athletes.
