Under the leadership of the Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning, the Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible to support all aspects of the development and implementation of a successful year-round sport-specific strength and conditioning for 15 division I sports programs. This position will focus on enhancing performance, injury prevention, and injury recovery programs. This includes but is not limited to instruction of proper techniques, physical performance evaluating and testing, managing, scheduling, maintenance, and upkeep of the weight room facility, and adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, NCAA, and applicable conference.
Assist with the management, design and implementation of training programs for teams and individual student-athletes throughout the school year. Effectively communicate with a diverse population of student-athletes, coaches and staff Teach the proper technique for all lifts and movement training including but not limited to plyometric exercises, Olympic lifts, speed development exercises and flexibility. Collaborate with Sports Medicine to develop and implement injury prevention programs and accommodate injured student athletes to facilitate return to play. Knowledge of injuries sustained in the sport and proper prevention methods, directing appropriate pre-training session and pre-contest preparations and warmups. Assist with the monitoring and supervision and upkeep of the weight room to ensure safe and operable conditions. Assist with the design and implement testing methods to assess strength and fitness levels of student-athletes (pre and post season). Assist in developing summer and off-season programs for designated sports. Keep accurate records and supervision. Support the education of student athletes regarding proper nutrition, sleep, recovery, and other healthy living practices. Communicate issues and program improvement ideas involving the strength and conditioning area to the Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning. Meet with designated head coaches to assess needs and plan programs.
Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Health, Physical Education, or related field. Two years of coaching at the collegiate level. Must be First Aid/CPR/AED certified within the first 30 days of employment. Must possess one of the following certifications:1. NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association Certification)-CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist)2. CSCCa (Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association Certification-SCCC (Strength and Coach Certified)3. DBC Level 1(Professional and Collegiate Biomechanics-Strength, Fitness, and Conditioning)
Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Health, Physical Education, or related field Two years coaching experience in a Division 1 Program.
This position may require nights and weekends. It may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 75 pounds; It requires both an indoor and outdoor working environment. Physical demands include, but are not limited to, standing, bending, lifting throughout the day and workout demonstrations with student-athletes
