Apply NowTo develop, implement, and oversee weight training and conditioning programs for Intercollegiate Athletics. Reports to designated supervisor.
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Oversee the weight training and conditioning of student athletes; make recommendations regarding safety of athletic conditioning and weight training programs and equipment.
Collaborate with athletic medical staff, student athletes, coaches, and administration regarding conditioning and weight training programs.
Maintain student athlete weight training files and records.
Counsel and motivate student athletes regarding conditioning and weight training programs.
Enforce policies and procedures of the Athletic Department and weight training facilities.
Assist in coordination of sports camps and clinics.
Leadership of a small department, unit, or major function and/or direct supervision over administrative/professional employees.
May work with Olympic sports team.
May supervise full-time employees and/or provide functional guidance on a temporary or intermittent basis.
Schedule and arrange supervision for weight training facilities.
Perform related duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in physical education, exercise physiology, or related field. Two years experience in a full-time and/or graduate assistantship in collegiate and/or professional strength and conditioning coach program.
License/Certification:
Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) - OR - Certifed Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Knowledge Of:
Weight training and conditioning techniques *
Personal computer applications
Skill In:
Training or instructing student athletes *
Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication *
Ability To:
Lift 100 pounds
Travel
Work non-traditional hours
Provide leadership and direction
Asterisk (*) indicates knowledge, skills, abilities which may require assessments. Assessments could take the form of interview questions, a request to provide work samples or a written or practical test to assess job related competencies.
Typically requires balance, strength, flexibility, and endurance sufficient to demonstrate, teach, and develop skills of student athletes. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building and off campus frequently.
Must pass a security check.
