Position Summary
The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications forStudent Athlete Development and Retention Coordinator.
Responsible for providing academic support for academically at-risk student-athletes..
Duties/Responsibilities
Provide academic and support to an assigned group of identified student-athletes, with the oversight of the Director of Academic and Support Services for Student-Athletes.
Mentor of incoming and returning student-athletes, with goal setting and professional development.
Assists student-athletes with the monitoring of grades, communication with professors, and keeping track of assignments within guidelines set forth by the Director of Academic and Support Services for Student-Athletes.
Work with Faculty Athletic Representative to track on missed assignments due to travel.
Provides coaches with real time information on academic progress of student-athletes.
Work with student-athletes one-on-one and in small groups and assists with skill development by teaching study skills and promoting skill development.
Works with the Director of Academic and Support Services for Student Athletes to recommend a course of action by providing services, policies, procedures, and informational material related to student-athletes with learning challenges.
Supports academic programs by providing skill techniques, time management and related academic information to students.
Coordinate tutoring with Director of Academic and Support Services for Student Athletes.
Assist with Life Skills programs.
Works with Academic Affairs on retention initiatives.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requ** ired Knowledge and Skills**
Bachelor’s degree.
Attentiveness to detail; strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple requests and handle them in an efficient and timely manner.
Must possess strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and problem solving skills.
Ability to interact effectively with students and faculty of all cultural backgrounds and experience levels.
Proficient use of computers, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and e-mail.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Prefe** rred Knowledge and Skills**
Experience in administrative of intercollegiate athletics strongly preferred.
Experience working with diverse group of students including students receiving federal and state aid and students at academic risk.
