The Student Financial Aid Officer
III
will provide support for the administration of financial aid in compliance with
NCAA
rules and regulations, helping to ensure
NCAA
Division II compliance related to scholarships, reporting, equivalencies, and similar functions of athletic aid. Engage as needed with student-athletes and Athletics Department, and support other functions in the Office of
Financial Aid when not handling athletic aid-related efforts.
Bachelor’s degree. Two years previous Financial Aid or related experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. Excellent organizational skills; proficient in MS Office products and ability to learn other software programs; detail oriented, accurate with ability to prioritize information in a timely manner; strong communication skills; written, oral, active listening and interpersonal skills; work effectively in team situations; proactive in identifying potential issues; demonstrate computational ability; ability to investigate, analyze and interpret data or information for accuracy and completeness in order to make informed decisions; ability to work on several tasks at one time; ability to make quality decisions based on available information; ability to respond effectively in a variety of situations; ability to improve performance by doing new things; ability to plan, coordinate, schedule, direct and monitor tasks, activities and assignments to effectively complete a project; knowledge of different work styles and personality types; understanding of conflict resolution techniques and demonstrated ability to confront employees in a positive manner; understand cross-cultural communication needs and respond accordingly; understanding of UTD’s strategic plan and goals and ability to communicate them in a motivational way to staff. Must be eligible to administer Title IV aid.
Experience advising student-athletes and/or administrating athletic financial aid.

ADMINISTRATION
Maintain knowledge of
NCAA
, Lone Star Conference, and university rules and regulations regarding financial aid for student-athletes and ensure communication and enforcement of rules and regulations.
Administer grant-in-aid renewal, non-renewal, and cancellation correspondence; manage monitor, and maintain student-athlete grant-in-aid data/reports/tracking/sport lists.
Review and process student-athlete information and establish records in appropriate systems; ensure student-athletes are properly enrolled and maintain eligibility for athletic and non-athletic financial aid.
Review and monitor financial aid packages and honorary academic awards/scholarships, verify donor/student qualifications, and determine if sources are countable to student-athlete financial aid limits; adjust grant-in-aid accounts accordingly.
Administer student-athlete-specific scholarship funds.
Review and post institutional and external scholarships for academic eligibility standards as required by
NCAA
, in conjunction with Athletics Compliance.
Coordinate posting of non-resident tuition waivers for eligible student-athletes receiving full athletic grants-in-aid, in consultation with Athletic Compliance Committee.
Collaborate on preparation and submission of reports as required by
NCAA
, Lone Star Conference, and University administration, including annual end-of-year report.
Review, audit, and enter grant-in-aid or support the process to batch-load grant-in-aid into
NCAA
Compliance Assistant software; maintain Compliance Assistant automated reporting process.
Work with Director and/or Senior Director to ensure
PPM
is updated and that public information is up-to-date and accurate.
Assist with researching rules, regulations, and peer programs.
Assist with developing and implementing processes and/or programs.
May serve on student-athlete reduction/cancellation appeals committee.

ADVISING
Advise students, parents, and University personnel on all student-athlete financial aid processes; maintain current knowledge of procedures for advising and processing aid as it concerns student-athletes.
Serve as primary contact for student-athletes for
FAFSA
information change requests, Requests for Dependency Status Changes, and Cost of Attendance revisions.
Work in collaboration with Director, Senior Director, and Athletics to ensure accurate and timely posting and information.
Attend meetings to review and provide information regarding student-athlete financial aid.
Assist campus units and Athletics staff regarding prospective student-athletes and financial aid.

ADVISING
Advise and counsel students, parents, and prospective students in solving educational financial concerns through financial aid programs, including scholarships, loans, grants, employment, and financial counseling.
Review student files, collect supporting documentation, and award, revise, adjust, and approve financial aid awards.
Participate in the review, revision, and interpretation of policies and procedures for general financial aid, scholarships, and specialized programs.
Provide assistance and guidance to other Office of Financial Aid staff to ensure that processing activities adhere to established policies and procedures.
Assist with daily scholarship processing when needed.
Attend weekly department meetings and trainings.
Requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time frequently throughout the workday
Requires the ability to perform frequent to constant repetitive keyboarding activities while utilizing dual monitors to complete work tasks
Remote Work Notice
Following successful completion of an initial training period, a
hybrid
work schedule may be available, subject to business needs and departmental approval.
Employee must be located within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with 24-hour notice.
Completion and approval of a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required, and use of personal computer, internet, and other standard equipment may be required. Remote work arrangements are subject to regular review and re-approval and may be cancelled.
