Position Summary
Under general direction of the Associate Director Health, Wellness and Performance, and Sr. AVP or designee, the Student Health Athlete Care Analyst (SHACA) serves students and student athletes, ensuring optimal health care management regarding insurance benefits and medical service referrals for injured students and student athletes.
The SHACA uses knowledge of the medical insurance billing policies, procedures, regulations, and practices, together with a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations to navigate medical treatment plans, insurance reimbursements, and related actions on behalf of, or together with, student athletes. In addition, the SHACA reviews and submits insurance billing in PnC, Family Pact, and Medi-Cal. The SHACA works collectively with students, staff, and administrators to develop and implement strategies for student care that provide the best possible medical outcomes for students while also ensuring medical expenses are correctly pre-approved, coded and/or explained in a manner that supports insurance payment or reimbursements. This position also interprets policies and procedures, statutory regulations, athletics insurance policies, and guidelines established by the CSU, Office of Risk Management regarding insurance requirements and coverages and provides information direction and recommendations to the Athletics Department.
FLSA : Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)
Anticipated Hiring Range : $5,900 - 6,300 per month
CSU Classification Salary Range : $4,170 - $7,545 per month

Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS) embraces a holistic and collaborative approach to healthcare by offering urgent care, primary care, preventative services, wellness education, violence support services, and mental health, services to the Sacramento State campus community. SHCS is committed to providing quality care and service delivery and is accredited through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
Minimum Qualifications
Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
