Job Summary
The Student Manager for the Women’s Basketball Team plays a crucial role in supporting the team’s operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of practices and games. This position provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sports management, enhance organizational skills, and contribute to the success of the team. The Student Manager will work closely with coaches, players, and other team staff to help maintain an efficient and professional environment. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under
FLSA
regulations.
Specific Responsibilities
Team Support:
Assist with setting up and breaking down practices and games, including arranging equipment and ensuring the court is prepared.
Help manage team gear, including inventory, distribution, and maintenance of uniforms and practice apparel.
Support coaches and players during practices, games, and team meetings as needed.
Administrative Tasks:
Maintain and organize team records, including player statistics, game schedules, and practice logs.
Coordinate and manage team travel arrangements, including transportation, lodging, and meal plans.
Assist with communication between coaches, players, and other staff members.
Event Coordination:
Aid in the preparation and execution of home and away games, including setting up game day operations and ensuring all necessary materials are available.
Communication and Collaboration:
Act as a liaison between the coaching staff, players, and other departments within the college or university.
Facilitate communication regarding scheduling changes, team announcements, and other relevant information.
Additional Duties:
Perform other tasks as assigned by the head coach or assistant coaches.
Provide support during high-pressure situations, including managing game day logistics and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Current student at Susquehanna University with a strong interest in sports management or related fields.
Previous experience in sports or team management is preferred but not required.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite) and willingness to learn new software or tools as necessary.

Additional Requirements
This position is paid $7.25 per hour, with an estimate of 10-15 hours weekly.
This position could include evenings and weekends
Must be able to work the entire season
Physical Demand
Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
Position requires the ability to move about the campus.
Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction.
Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach.

Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
