Hiring Range $75,150-$93,950
The Arena Supervisor will manage the day-to-day functions, staffing, maintenance schedule and operation of Silvio Conte Forum/Hoag Basketball Arena. Conte/Hoag is a 7,000-seat arena at Boston College, home to Men’s / Women’s Hockey and Basketball programs.
This position requires strong mechanical and technical skills and the ability to supervise multiple projects/events at once, oftentimes on different campuses. Prior knowledge of portable floor operations and stage setup/removals, and ice making will receive top consideration. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
This position will also be trained in the day-to-day operations of all athletic facilities including Alumni Stadium & Fish Field House supporting the football program; Harrington Athletic Village supporting baseball and softball; Newton Campus supporting Men’s / Women’s Soccer programs and Women’s Field Hockey and Lacrosse programs. This position may be asked to manage events located on / in any of the athletic facilities at Boston College. This would include setting up of the event, safely triage any issues that may arise during the event, and breakdown / cleanup post event.
A successful candidate will have all of the required competencies and the strongest candidates will have all or many of the preferred competencies.
REQUIRED:
Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a union environment
Proven ability to manage and participate in multiple projects and multiple crews in a productive and safe manner
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
Self-starter with the ability to analyze situations and develop solutions to problems with minimal supervision.
Prior knowledge of portable floor operations and conversions

Familiarity with Ice Kube refrigeration systems
Knowledge of Metasys building management systems
Experience in Kronos timekeeping (or similar)
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Docs
Excellent verbal, written and public relations skills
Strong mechanical skills and machinery troubleshooting
Flexibility to work varying hours
PREFERRED:
Knowledge and experience in installing and removing the ice surface to meet NCAA Division 1 standards.
Experience and knowledge of installation and maintenance air supported structures
Knowledge of Federal OSHA and Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards
Working knowledge of tools and equipment related to managing a multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility including lighting systems and irrigation systems.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory position preferred. Experience in a facility/property management role is preferred. Previous athletic facilities and maintenance experience in a hockey arena is desirable.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in arena management
Must maintain a valid driver’s license
MA Hoisting license is preferred
US Ice Rink Association or ISI Certification is preferred
SCHEDULE/CONDITIONS/DEMANDS:
Work will include some holidays, nights and weekend shifts as dictated by Athletics and University Event schedules. Every effort will be made to make the event and floor conversion coverage as equitable as possible. Ability to sometimes work a very demanding schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, double shifts in all weather conditions.
Although this is primarily a supervisory role, on many occasions this position will be required to perform physically demanding tasks. This position will be required to be outside in the elements a good portion of assigned shifts.
