Job Description:
Successful candidates must: a) demonstrate the ability to effectively and inspirationally coach within a collegiate Swim/Dive program, b) understand the philosophy of Division
III
athletics at Hope College, c) be committed to transformational experiences for student-athletes and competitive excellence for this program, d) perform additional responsibilities of a staff member at the college as assigned. Hope College is a Christian co-educational, residential liberal arts college affiliated with the Reformed Church in America.
Coaching
Serve as assistant coach for the Hope College swimming and diving programs
Practice planning and implementation of swimming techniques and training progression
Coordinate travel, meals, meet entries and data entries. (Meet and Team manager software)
Recruiting – assist Head Coach as directed
Other duties as needed and assigned by the head coach
Intramural Director – Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the College Intramural life
Scheduling
Coordinating captains meetings
Oversee student workers
Oversee the lifeguards at the Dow pool which includes all supervisory aspects, including scheduling and training. Work with the Certified Pool Operator to ensure staff is meeting safety and operating requirements.
Student-Athlete Mentoring which includes developing positive relationships student-athlete
Teach
KIN
155, lifeguard training with certification through the American Red Cross in the Spring semester (Additional pay for this class)

CPR
Instructor training will be paid for by the college
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is required, as is a commitment to the character and goals of a liberal arts college with a Christian perspective.
This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves moving items over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities.
