The Assistant Coach assists the Head Coach in providing leadership for a NCAA Division I women’s soccer program. Assists with all aspects of the women’s soccer program and plays an integral part in the day-to-day administrative responsibilities, daily team training, evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes, academic monitoring, and skill development. This position must work within UNCW, CAA, and NCAA guidelines to provide student-athletes an exceptional collegiate experience while competing for championships. Assists the Head Coach in providing leadership for a NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer program along with the overall coaching, management, and administration of the program Teach the mental and physical aspects of the game while preparing student-athletes for life after intercollegiate sportsAssist with skill development of players and implement team strategiesAdhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the department and university as well as the rules and regulations of the CAA and NCAA Assist the second assistant, team manager, and support staff while maintaining organization and administration of the program within a budgetTrack countable athletic related activities through ARMS online systemAssist with team community service events and assist with team fundraisingAssist with annual golf fundraiser to raise funds for UNCW Women’s Soccer programParticipate in university, civic, and public relations activities for promotion of the sportOther duties as assigned
• High school diploma or equivalency• Must be highly dependable, flexible, and available to work evenings and weekends• Possess excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with the public• Strong problem solving skills• Ability to stand for extended periods of time both indoors and outdoors• Work effectively as a team member• Previous customer service experience preferred

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
