Ball State Athletics is seeking a Sports Nutrition Consultant to lead and enhance nutrition services for our nearly 450 student-athletes. This position will play a critical role in optimizing athletic performance, recovery, health, and overall well-being through individualized nutrition counseling, team education, fueling station oversight, and the development of department-wide sport nutrition policies and procedures.
Working collaboratively with coaches, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning staff, and medical personnel, the Sports Nutrition Consultant will provide evidence-based nutrition guidance to support the unique needs of student-athletes across a broad range of Division I sports. The consultant will have the opportunity to build and expand comprehensive sport nutrition services, create educational resources, and help foster a culture of performance-focused fueling throughout Ball State Athletics.
This position is ideal for a registered dietitian or sport nutrition professional who is passionate about collegiate athletics and committed to helping student-athletes achieve success both in competition and in the classroom.

Position Summary
The Sports Nutrition Consultant provides nutrition education, counseling, and support services to Ball State student-athletes. This position works collaboratively with coaches, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning staff, and athletics administration to enhance student-athlete health, performance, recovery, and overall well-being through evidence-based nutrition practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and deliver team nutrition education presentations.
Provide grocery store tours, dining hall tours, cooking demonstrations, meal and snack preparation strategies, recipe recommendations, and travel nutrition guidance.
Present nutrition-related educational sessions for strength and conditioning programs.
Develop and maintain a library of nutrition presentations, educational materials, and handouts.
Assist student-athletes with pre- and post-practice nutrition planning, meal planning, and menu guidance.
Provide guidance and oversight regarding the appropriate use of nutritional supplements in accordance with applicable NCAA, university, and departmental guidelines.
Conduct individual nutrition consultations for student-athletes identified by coaches, athletic trainers, medical staff, or other support personnel.
Develop individualized nutrition recommendations to support performance, recovery, body composition goals, and overall health.
Oversee operations, inventory management, and stocking of the Worthen Arena fueling station.
Purchase food and nutrition-related items as needed for fueling station operations.
Assist with operations of the football fueling station as needed.
Oversee football breakfast and lunch meal service as assigned.
Create, implement, and maintain athletics sport nutrition policies, procedures, and best practices.
Collaborate with athletics staff to support a comprehensive sports nutrition program.
Maintain appropriate records, reports, and documentation related to sports nutrition services.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, or a related field.
Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential preferred.
Experience providing nutrition education, counseling, or sports nutrition services.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and best practices related to sport nutrition and dietary supplements.
Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with collegiate student-athletes.
Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) credential or progress toward certification.
Experience managing fueling stations, meal operations, or sports performance nutrition programs.
