Facilities Operations has the responsibility of providing a wide range of services to all administrative departments, student programs, and all academic schools and departments. Services include all aspects of corrective and preventive maintenance, operations, grounds maintenance, housekeeping, utility infrastructure maintenance and operations, business operations, safety, regulatory compliance, project management, and renovations. These duties are conducted for a campus consisting of over 100 buildings totaling 6 million gross square feet on over 275 acres.The Grounds Division of Facilities Operations at UNCG is a service organization comprised of skilled professionals dedicated to providing the highest quality in grounds planning, installation, landscape maintenance, and improvements. Grounds Division services aim to enhance the livability, aesthetics, and safety of the campus environment
The primary purpose of this position is to complete activities related to grounds mechanical duties. The primary duties are:• 40% Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance• 40% Sports Field, Golf, and Grounds Maintenance• 10% Maintaining a safe environment• 5% Maintaining Records• 5% Communication
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY; OR DEMONSTRATED POSSESSION OF THE COMPETENCIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THE WORK. OPTIONAL GUIDELINES: EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF WORK RELATED TO THE POSITION’S ROLE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED ON A YEAR-FOR-YEAR BASIS.
3-5 years in sports field maintenance. Associates degree preferred.

Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance
Performs regular preventive maintenance to ensure all equipment is in good working order. Makes repairs as needed. Coordinates with vendors for repairs that cannot be completed on campus.
Sports Field, Golf, and Grounds Maintenance
Performs Sports Field and Grounds maintenance tasks including: Irrigation repair and maintenance Mowing patterns of sports fields Edging field perimeters Applying fertilizers and pesticides Soil aeration Sodding, seeding, sprigging Painting Athletic fields for events and practices
Maintaining a safe work environment
Follow safe work policies and procedures. Use appropriate PPE.
Maintain records
Maintain proper chemical logs for applications. Maintain work orders for all equipment to have a repair history.
Communication
Maintain proper communication with management and customers to ensure good customer service.
