Starting Wage: $21.07 per hour/ $21.80 after successful completion of probationary period
Primary Responsibilities
Performs chemical and fertilizer application on athletic playing surfaces, campus grounds, common areas, and landscaping
Read, understand, and keep current with all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Maintain daily spray records
Maintain proper chemical inventory
Responsible for the direct preventive maintenance of all equipment associated with the task of chemical and fertilizer applications
Maintain chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations
Perform snow and ice removal
Assist with rodent/varmint control
Perform other duties as assigned
Maintain a valid driver’s license
Athletic field maintenance
Maintains and directs repairs to irrigation systems
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Demonstrated work history reflecting reliability and dependability
Possess a valid driver’s license
Ability to work in inclement weather, including emergencies and snow removal, and live within 30 minutes travel time from the University
Ability to performs duties such as mowing, weed eating, edging, seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, laying sod, aerating, and applying pesticides and herbicides to campus grounds and athletic fields
Ability to chalk and paint athletic fields in preparation for scheduled practices and games; Pick up trash barrels and litter from all sports fields and parking lots
Possess MO Pesticide License or must obtain within 90 days of hire
Ability to comprehend product labels, application rates, and calibrations
Knowledge of how to identify and treat common weed varieties, pests, and turf diseases
Knowledge in the safe mechanical operation of mechanically pressurized spray equipment, hand-operated spray equipment, and hand-operated rotary spreaders
Experience or knowledge to maintain irrigation systems and performs minor repairs such as changing sprinkler heads or installation of sprinkler lines
Demonstrated experience operating trucks and tractors of various sizes and weights in loading hauling and unloading various equipment and supplies
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with minimal supervision
Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
