Tutor Program Coordinator
The office of Academic Services for Student-Athletes offers personal and academic support to student-athletes participating in the University’s highly competitive and visible education and athletic programs. As an academic unit dedicated to the ideals of excellence and independent thinking, the office provides an array of services – counseling, guidance, mentoring, and tutoring – in an effort to teach “those disciplined habits of mind, body, and spirit that characterize educated, skilled, and free human beings.”
As an advocate for student-athletes, this office works in concert with other departments to ensure that student-athletes have the opportunity and are encouraged to pursue fully the diverse academic, cultural, and spiritual riches of the University.
Currently, the Office of Academic Services for Student-Athletes has an opening for the Tutor Program Coordinator who will oversee all aspects of the tutoring program. This includes, but is not limited to, recruiting, hiring, training, monitoring, and evaluating tutors and monitors within the office. This also includes maintaining records of each tutoring session and tutor/monitor payroll. The candidate must be available to meet with students and staff on campus as needed and attend weekly

Responsibilities include:
Train tutors to work effectively and correctly with student-athletes by holding group and individual meetings as part of an on-going development program. Organize and set up tutoring sessions that are to be held on a regular basis. Assign tutors to work with student-athletes on an individual basis.
Manage Tutoring Program- Recruit and hire tutors each semester by contacting assistant deans, professors of University departments or through referrals by other tutors.
Monitor small group and individual tutoring. Review all tutor reports daily and initiate immediate contact with tutor if there is question or concern. Communicate with tutors on a regular basis. Evaluate tutoring provided to student-athletes each semester. Maintain all tutoring records on a computer data base system. Manage student staff including tutors, monitors, strategy tutors. Execute payroll for student staff.
Bachelor’s degree: Education, communications or general studies
1 – 2 years relevant experience
