DEFINITION:
The Vice President of Athletics provides executive leadership for all aspects of intercollegiate athletics at Crown College, ensuring alignment with the College’s mission and institutional priorities. As a member of the President’s Cabinet, this role contributes to the College's strategic direction. Athletics is an integral part of Crown College’s Christ-centered mission, advancing the Boldly Christian vision established by the President and Board of Trustees. The Vice President of Athletics leads the strategic direction, performance, and oversight of the department, including the development and supervision of coaches and staff, operational effectiveness, financial stewardship, and compliance with UMAC, NCAA Division III, NCCAA, and Title IX regulations.

DEFINITION:

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:
Ø The Vice President of Athletics supervises the following positions:
o Coaches of various intercollegiate sports sanctioned by the College
o Associate Athletic Director for Communications and Operations
o Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance/Senior Woman Administrator
o Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities
o Certified Athletic Trainers
EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION:
Works from an office at Crown College. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, personal computer and required programs, printer, fax machine, calculator, copy machines, and other equipment as the position requires.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
· Drive results across Athletics with clear accountability for student-athlete retention, academic performance, competitive success, and alignment with institutional enrollment and financial goals.
· Maintain a strong and positive working relationship with the athletic staff and any on-campus or off-campus stakeholders
· Champion and advance the mission of Crown College by consistently reflecting, articulating, and integrating its Christ-centered vision, values, and commitments throughout all aspects of Athletics.
· Serve as a collaborative member of the President's Cabinet, providing insight and wisdom in executive decision-making at Crown College.
· Provide executive leadership for the Department of Athletics, setting a clear strategic vision that aligns with institutional priorities and advances a strong commitment to Christ-centered formation, enrollment, academic excellence, student development, and competitive excellence.
· Lead and hold coaches and athletic programs accountable for mission alignment and performance, including measurable outcomes in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes who are committed Christians, academically prepared for the rigor of Crown College, and capable of competing at a high level.
· Establish a culture of excellence through leadership of coaches and staff, including hiring, development, evaluation, and accountability, fostering unity, professional growth, and mission alignment across the department.
· Direct and evaluate all aspects of the athletic program, using data and assessment to drive continuous improvement, strategic decision-making, and long-term program health.
· Direct athletic enrollment strategy in partnership with Admissions, ensuring each program meets roster goals with mission-fit student-athletes and maintains strong recruiting pipelines and retention outcomes.
· Partner closely with academic leadership to promote the academic success of student-athletes, ensuring appropriate support, accountability, and alignment with the academic rigor and expectations of Crown College.
· Foster strong collaboration across campus, ensuring Athletics is fully integrated into the life and mission of the College while contributing meaningfully to institutional goals and initiatives.
· Provide executive leadership for athletic operations, including intercollegiate and intramural programs, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and execution while contributing to student engagement, community, and the overall student experience.
· Lead fiscal strategy and stewardship for Athletics, including development and oversight of the departmental budget and sport-specific budgets, ensuring responsible allocation of resources aligned with institutional priorities.
· Develop and maintain strong internal and external partnerships, effectively communicating the vision, goals, and impact of Athletics to campus constituents, alumni, donors, and community stakeholders.
· Ensure full compliance with all governing bodies, including NCAA Division III, UMAC, and NCCAA, through the development, communication, and enforcement of policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
· Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and accountability in all required reporting and record-keeping related to NCAA, UMAC, and NCCAA, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and institutional integrity.
· Ensure the health, safety, and eligibility of all student-athletes, including oversight of medical requirements, insurance, and compliance with eligibility standards.
· Serve as the senior leader for issue resolution, addressing concerns and complaints with professionalism, discretion, and alignment to institutional values.
· Lead the strategic planning and stewardship of athletic facilities, ensuring they meet safety standards, support student-athlete well-being, and align with NCAA, UMAC, and NCCAA requirements, while contributing to long-term campus planning.
· Lead athletic advancement efforts in collaboration with Advancement, including fundraising, donor engagement, sponsorship development, and resource generation.
· Cultivate a vibrant campus culture through Athletics, strengthening school spirit, enhancing the student experience, and contributing to overall campus morale and engagement.

· Ability to work collaboratively across campus, contributing to a unified and mission-driven approach to student development and institutional effectiveness.
· Capacity to lead effectively in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities with sound judgment, discernment, and attention to detail.
· Demonstrated skill in hiring, developing, supervising, and evaluating staff in a manner that promotes growth, accountability, and alignment with the mission and values of Crown College.
· Financial stewardship and oversight experience, including the ability to develop, manage, and allocate resources in a fiscally responsible manner.
· Ability to represent Crown College with professionalism, integrity, and credibility in conference, national, and external settings.
· Skill in developing, communicating, and implementing policies that serve student-athletes and contribute to the health and integrity of the campus community.
· Thorough understanding of NCAA Division III, NCCAA, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including Title IX.
· Understanding of enrollment strategy and marketing approaches that effectively attract and retain student-athletes who are a strong fit for Crown College.
· Full agreement with the Crown College Statement of Faith and a demonstrated commitment to live in accordance with the Community Covenant.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Master’s degree in Sports Management, Organizational Leadership, Business Administration or related field
· 5+ years of administrative management and employee supervision at a college or university
· Successful college or university coaching experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to the above minimum qualifications):
· Administrative management and employee supervision in a faith-based higher education setting
