Job Description

Huntington University has an opening for a Vice President of Student Life and Athletics. 

The Vice President of Student Life and Athletics serves as the university’s Chief Student Affairs Officer, providing executive leadership for student life, athletics, spiritual formation, and student success initiatives across all campuses and online modalities. Reporting to the President and serving on the President’s Cabinet and Strategic Leadership Team, the Vice President offers vision, strategic direction, and oversight to support students’ holistic development. They lead the Division of Student Affairs, contribute to university-wide planning, and collaborate with academic and administrative units to align student success, retention, and co-curricular programs with the university’s mission. As a key advocate for students, the Vice President ensures programs, services, and policies meet evolving student needs while maintaining alignment with institutional values and goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An enthusiastic, mature, and contagious Christian faith, with active participation in a local church and commitment to Christian higher education.
  • Doctorate in higher education administration, student affairs, or a related field required (ABD considered).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs, athletics administration, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee student success programs, residence life, counseling, athletics, and student engagement initiatives.
  • Strong commitment to inclusive excellence-fostering belonging for all students.
  • Proven track record of enhancing student retention, success, and holistic development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across campus constituencies.
  • Evidence of effective managerial ability with programs, budgets, and staff, including mentoring and developing leaders.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and developing programs for all students.
  • Familiarity with NAIA athletics governance, student conduct, and best practices in higher education administration is preferred.
  • Understanding of legal and compliance requirements in student life, including Title IX, FERPA, and risk management.
